Apps for schools
Useful tools for the work schools are already doing.
EP for Schools is where I share practical advice. The apps each have their own site, where you can see how they work and try them.
PrecisionTeaching.uk
A browser-based tool to help staff practise and monitor small, measurable skills. Record brief sessions, see progress over time and export your school’s data.
It is designed for schools using Precision Teaching for skills such as phonics, words, number facts and vocabulary. The app is free to use with no registration or payment. Start with a small set of previously taught targets, then run a short check and view the result.
One small skill. One clear next step.
Add pupil initials, create an intervention, then use Probe to run a timed check. The result saves automatically and the chart shows progress.
Return on the same device, browser and profile. Select the pupil and existing intervention, practise, then run another probe with the same timing length. Download regular JSON backups. Find saved work and check the backup steps.
Day by Day Tools
Day by Day Tools is a growing set of straightforward browser-based tools for schools. The UK prototype is free to use while I develop and test it with school staff.
Please try it in real school situations. If you spot a bug, have a suggestion for improving a tool, or can think of another app that would be useful in the collection, I would be very pleased to hear from you.
Built around everyday school needs.
The prototype phase is a chance to find out what genuinely saves staff time. Bugs, practical suggestions and ideas for additional apps are all useful.
What comes next
More tools can join this collection.
Each app will have a clear purpose and its own information, demo and support. If there is a repetitive SEND task you wish were simpler, I’d be interested to hear about it.
